THERAPY

INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY

Adult: The problems facing adults are varied both in kind and in depth. It is important to define the issues and the resources within you to help you face that which you hadn't before. If the solution/process were a simple one, we would easily solve it. Complex problems do require complex solutions but there is no benefit in making problems more complex than they are.

Children: The problems facing children relate to their unfinished state and their need to learn. Children are dependent on the adults in their lives and therefore therapy often includes the family's dynamics. Keeping a child's sense of self and self-confidence are central components.

PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR COUPLES AND FAMILIES

Couples: Couples issues are often powerful and alive with the "politics" of gender. As a rule, it is better to over estimate the differences between men and women than underestimate them. In a more formal setting with an experienced listener, a couple can often talk through what seemed impossible before. It is not a matter of who is to blame but where the misunderstanding is. Most people want their relationships to work; it is the missed communications that need to be captured and clarified; then the decisions reveal themselves.

Families: Families, regardless of their form, create a basic, fundamental unit of society. They often represent both the best of times and the worst of times. Within families it is very important that everyone knows, hears and has a sense of their importance and influence in the family unit. Often the family bond can be strengthened providing the sustaining cooperation that each family member needs to fully participate in his/her individual life.

MIND - BODY CONNECTION

The mind of course is the body. Our thoughts, responses, reactions, feelings are all reflected in our body and play a major role in stress- related conditions. Understanding the power of thought, utilizing techniques of meditation, biofeedback and autogenic training can assist in reducing the impact of stress on the body. We strive for alert and agile minds and calm bodies.
